MMA at The FightLab Combat Arts in Huddersfield. Mixed martial arts (MMA) is a full contact combat sport that allows the use of both striking and grappling techniques, both standing and on the ground. MMA takes our JKD Concepts into the realms of full contact combat sports. The emphasis in this class is on training purely functional technique & contact sparring standing up & on the floor with PPE. We will pay particular attention to teaching you the fundamentals and making sure you improve in both skill and understanding of the sport at a comfortable pace. As you master your strikes, kicks and punches & grappling, we guarantee you'll be engaged and entertained with each new class.

2020 Beginners MMA Course

New Beginners MMA course starts 8th Jan 2020. Learn the fundamentals of striking and grappling including: punches, kicks and knees, sweeps, takedowns, submissions, and more. Learn smart and effective offensive and defensive moves while you get into shape. Learn to effectively mix grappling and striking in a ground confrontation – a must for self defence. Not only is this class informative and useful for any person, but it offers an unparalleled workout that is sure to keep you fit.

This 8 week course covers:

  • Striking techniques from Muay Thai
  • Standup grappling techniques & takedowns from Muay Thai & Freestyle Wrestling
  • Ground grappling positions, submissions & ‘ground & pound’ from Jiu-Jitsu & Wrestling
